To configure the ooPIC programming cable, Select "Cable Configuration" from the "Tools" menu.

This will bring up the ooPIC's Programming Cable Configuration Window.

The ooPIC's Programming Cable Configuration Window allows one to specify the printer or serial port that the ooPIC's Programming Cable is plugged into and at what speed the program will download into the ooPIC.

Serial Cable

When the Cable configuration dialog box is brought up, all the serial ports on the system 1 to 6 will be discovered and will show a status of "Installed" of "Not Installed"

The desired serial port can be manually selected, or the "Find Serial Cable" button can be used.

The "Find Serial Cable" button will search all the installed serial ports for an attached ooPIC.

The Programming delay and Memory size have no affect when using the serial cable.

The Verify after download check box can be selected which will cause the compiler to read the program back after it has been sent to the ooPIC to verify that the data has been received property.  This feature is useful if you have a noisy or otherwise unpredictable serial connection such as a wireless serial port.

A "Programming Delay" value is used to create a delay between each clock cycle of the download signals. If you have an exceptionally long cable, you will need to increase the delay to compensate for the additional capacitance of the cable and if you have a slow computer, you can decrease the value accordingly.

Generally, one can experiment with this value to provide the quickest download time for their hardware.  The software can detect an appropriate Programming Delay for you by pressing the Find Delay button.

A "Find Parallel Cable" button is provided that will determine the Printer Port that the ooPIC's Programming Cable is currently connected to. Pressing it will activate a routine that will check all three printer ports for an attached cable. This routine will result in one of two messages:

If the "Find Parallel Cable" routine detects the ooPIC's programming cable on any of the 3 printer ports, then a "cable found" message window is displayed and the connected printer port is automatically entered into the configuration screen's Printer Port entry.

However, if the "Find Parallel Cable" routine does not detect a cable attached to any of the 3 printer ports, a "Cannot find programming cable." is displayed.
